This is my second solo exhibition at YUKIKOMIZUTANI. Following on from my previous exhibition 'Organising Chaos', I will continue exhibiting a collection of inky vivid textures, this time to express my desire to disassemble myself into atoms. I will be expressing rhythms that occur from within; disassembling, queuing, merging, layering, melting and vibrating… all these sensations are woven into the pieces through the movement of ink. The children's book "Once Upon a Raindrop" in Korean edition

Happy to announce that the picture book “Once upon a Raindrop" is now translated into Korean language!
It's a beautuful poem about water written by James Carter in English, published by Caterpillar Books / Little Tiger Books in the UK in 2018.
The Korean edition “물 한 방울에서 시작되는 이야기” is published by Bombom Publishing. The book has been translated into Italian, Turkish and Chinese.

Haruki Murakami 'THE CITY AND ITS UNCERTAIN WALLS' (deluxe edition) / 村上春樹著『街とその不確かな壁』(限定版)

Illustration for the cover and endpaper for 'THE CITY AND ITS UNCERTAIN WALLS' by Haruki Murakami, published by Vintage Books.
The overall design by Suzanne Dean, illustration by me, and the calligraphy by Keiko Shimoda.

This signed and numbered deluxe edition is limited to exactly 80 copies. The books are swiss-bound and presented in a Perspex case with an egg-shaped cut out.
It also includes a quarter-bound, sewn notebook decorated with egg shapes that connect to the dream library which features in the novel. Beautiful.

I will be participating with a few giclée prints and lithographs at a pop-up Christmas art market at Pocko. Pocko will be selling artwork, prints, illustrations and books from £1. (EN) Excited to announce my solo exhibition 'Organising Chaos' at YUKIKOMIZUTANI in Tokyo, Japan.
I will exhibit a collection of inky vivid textures to express organising chaos within myself; The feeling of trying to organise a cramped and confused state, the feeling of trying to neatly arrange the mess inside one’s head, the feeling of trying to control the uncontrollable. The mistakes and discoveries birthed by chance, diving into the picture in a trance-like state, and the therapeutic colours and shapes that emerge... all these sensations are incorporated into pieces via the movement of ink.

I held five days of workshops at Loro Piana Ginza to celebrate new Cocoon Collection in October.
Along with my live paintings and small talks, the workshop included;

"Sono fatto così" and "Brillantina" for charities in Italy

I made these picture books "Sono Fatto Così" and "Brillantina" with Marta Benoffi in 2015 - 2016, and they're finally released in Italy!
The book sales will be donated to two Italian charities; Fondazione Theodora Onlus and U.G.I Onlus.
The charity champaign ends on 24th June. The books will be sold in selected book shopd after the champaign.

"Sono fatto così" (Just the way I am) is a sweet tale about a young tree who has a different trait to the others; it floats!
We are all different and it doesn't matter how others look at us - the story shows the freedom to be yourself.

"Brillantina" is an empowering story of a dim, metropolitan lamp who wants to shine.
It tells the story of serene self-affirmation - we have our own light within us, and it's up to us to make it shine.

The worlds of Marta's stories are charming and uplifting. I truly enjoyed working on the pictures and I think it makes you smile too :)

I've been longlisted at World Illustration Awards by AOL and Directory of Illustration in the editorial category!
The image is made for the opening page of the article ‘The happiness Handbook’, in Health magazine which focuses on women’s health. The article describes 10 small but effective ways to help the feeling of joyfulness flourish. My idea is to create an atmosphere of joy with a gathering of happy women inspired by petals of blooming nature.

I illustrated the picture book "THE GREAT REALISATION", story written by Tomos Roberts (Tomfoolery), published by Egmont Books UK.

It's a hopeful bedtime story for a time of change. First performed online in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Tomos’ heartfelt poem, with its message of hope and resilience, has been viewed over 60 million times and translated into over 20 languages.

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Illustration for the “Home Is Where The Heart Is” campaign by Live Life Give Life, the organ donation awareness charity in the UK.

Across the UK, those who need, or who have received organ transplants, are shielding in isolation due to COVID-19. These patients are listed by the government as the most at risk from the Coronavirus. Live Life Give Life has launched new campaign with Team Margot and NHS Blood & Transplant to thank everyone for staying home and protecting the vulnerable, with 'Work of Heart' made by many artists.

The image I painted, together with my thoughts, was published for the opinion page “Reinterpretation: The art of taking the familiar and making it new”;
"Colours allow me to interpret my surroundings in a physical and emotional way. Each hue triggers memories: people, smells, tastes, sounds. With each memory, I am reminded of how I felt in that moment. But how I see colour is sometimes changed by my experiences. The way I see green changed completely when I visited Mexico City, from smooth, calm, peaceful to vibrant, lively, energetic. I thought with surprise, I won’t be seeing the colour green in the same way ever again. It was an unexpected, luxurious gift."

FLAG FOR THE EARTH

I will be participating in the exhibition "FLAG FOR THE EARTH" in collaboration with Postfossil, during Design Biennale Zurich, Switzerland.

Taking the current global political situation as a starting point, based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 UNO Agenda, I designed a flag for the Earth along with 15 other designers from around the world. The Flags will be hoisted for the first time on the hill of the Old Botanical Gardens durring the Design Biennale Zurich.
